Nuestro bello y mágico pueblo de Ajijic tuvo un tiempo en donde la tranquilidad y simpleza de la vida rural era la normalidad. Coches no eran muy vistos, pero caballos si eran la forma para transportarse, así como los burros se usaban para transportar cosechas traídas del cerro o de los campos que rodeaban el pueblo.
En la plaza había un pozo de agua en donde la gente conseguía agua para todo uso ya que no había sistema de agua ni drenajes. Las señoras se iban a la laguna a lavar la ropa usando una piedra como lavadero.
No había teléfonos ni servicios de televisión. A principios del año 1900, Ajijic fue descubierto por intelectuales europeos y se convirtió en un refugio para quienes huían de la persecución política después de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Estos extranjeros que por lo general eran del tipo bohemio y artístico, se empezaron a instalar y mezclarse con la gente del pueblo comenzando a darle un toque único a la esencia de Ajijic.
Hoy en día ya no es lo que era Ajijic antes, pues poco a poco se empezó a hacerse más popular y empezó a llegar más turismo. Como todo, todo cambia, pero sigue siendo un pueblo lleno de ese algo mágico que los hace tan especial.

REMEMBERING THE OLDEN AJIJIC
Our beautiful and magical village of Ajijc had a time when tranquility and simplicity of rural life was normal. Cars were not much seen but horses were the way of transportation, just as the donkeys were used to transport harvests brought from the hills or the fields that surrounded the village.
In the square there was a water well where people got water for all uses since there was no water system, nor drainage. The women went to the lake to wash their clothes using a stone as a buddle.
There were no telephones or television services. In the early 1900s, Ajijic was discovered by European intellectuals and became a haven for those fleeing political persecution after World War I. These foreigners, who were generally of the bohemian and artistic type, began to settle and mix with the townspeople, beginning to give a unique touch to the essence of Ajijic.
Today Ajijic is no longer what it used to be, little by little it became more and more popular and became more touristy. Like everything, things change, but it is still a town full of that something magical that makes it so special.
